The Ancient Villages of Southern Anhui UNESCO World Heritage Site covers two small villages: Xidi and Hongcun, located in Anhui province. Although both are beautiful in their own way, we decided to focus on Hongcun, with its gorgeous Moon Pond at the centre of the town. There's also a series of impressive drainage works, a large moat, academies, temples, meeting houses, and overall just a fantastic sense of being in an ancient Chinese village. Let's have a closer look.
