Memphis was the ancient capital of Egypt, and my guide Ahmed, who is an Egyptologist, takes us around the Memphis Open-Air Museum, which is also known as the Mit Rahina Museum. As we walk around this archeological site, Ahmed tells us about the history of Memphis. The highlights are the Queen Hapshepsut Sphinx, the tall stone statue of King Ramesses II, and the large horizontal limestone statue of Ramesses II that is located in a building that was built specifically to house the statue.
