Anay Luketa on "Thermal Hazards Associated with Transporting Liquefied Natural Gas by Rail"
In 2020, Congress directed the Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA) to commission a study by the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to examine the safety of transporting Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) by rail. As serving as one of the committee experts, the speaker will cover the analysis performed on the potential fire scenarios arising from an accident involving a train carrying liquefied natural gas.
Dr. Anay Luketa is a Principal Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories in the Engineering Sciences Center where she is a nationally recognized expert in fire research, fire safety, and fire hazard and risk analysis and testing. She received her PhD from the University of Washington where she majored in mechanical engineering with a focus on thermal and fire modeling and analysis. She also holds degrees in math and psychology from Seattle University.
