I've been working on this for the past few months. It takes a video source, divided it into two to eight levels (adjustable with a dial) and lets you choose the colour of the levels with an array of 24 dials on the front panel (eight levels of three colours). If anyone is interested I'll post schematics.

Sorry this is taken on a phone. I don't have the capability to wire it up to my capture card yet - I'm still waiting on some RGB encoders.
