Did you catch this week’s episode of 9 of Taronga: Who Who’s in the Zoo?! If you did, you would have seen the arrival of Black Rhino calf Matobo, thanks to a world-first reproductive treatment 🦏🤩
Well that ‘little’ calf now weighs over 370 kilos, and loves to eat everything mum Kufara gets, his favourites being sweet potato, carrot and apple!
Kufara and Matobo have now moved back to our behind-the-scenes Black Rhino facility so that he can be socialised with other female family members, including his aunty Sabi who loves playing zoomies with her nephew - as you can see in this video captured by Keeper Brent!
Behind-the-scenes, keepers are also able to dedicate more time to training, conditioning and rapport-building, all vitally important for Matobo’s ongoing healthcare as he grows into a strapping young bull!
