Recipe
Serves 2
5min prep, 20 min total
Ingredients
• 1 cup of Dashi stock
• 4 tbspn of soy sauce
• 4 tbspn of mirin
• 2 tsp sugar
• ½ an onion sliced in to rough half rounds
• 200g of very thinly sliced beef
• 2 thinly sliced spring onions
• (optional) 1.5 tspn grated ginger
• 1.5 cups of sushi rice (short grain)
• (optional) a fried egg
Directions
• Cook the rice according to the directions on the packet.
• Combine the stock, soy, mirin and sugar in a bowl.
• Cover the beef in the sugar and fry it at high heat in a frypan with the onions until both are browned.
• Add the liquid to the frypan and stir it regularly for around 15 minutes until the sauce has reduced to about half and the beef is coming apart.
• Serve the beef on top of the rice with spring onions and an egg on top
