NOTE: It has come to my attention that this is a repress using the original plates cut by Kevin Gray at Cohearant in 2012. There had been an error in the ad copy that has been corrected.
So excited today to report on a must have audiophile classic! The Ray Brown Trio Soular Energy has been a favorite of jazz afficiados and audiophiles since its debut on Concord Records in 1985. The original and various audiophile editions have commanded high prices as they have gone out of print, making this one very sought after title. Analogue Productions has come to the rescue with a beautiful new edition featuring a new all analog transfer from the original master tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearant. The records were cut at 45 rpm, and pressed at Quality Record Pressing, and a beautiful Stoughton gatefold jacket rounds out the package.
In this video i discuss my reference copy, the 2002 Pure Audiophile edition, and how the new edition stacks up against it. The Pure Audiophile edition of The Ray Brown Trio Soular Energy was the third entry in my "Records To Die For" series, and I've always considered it one of the best sounding albums in my collection.
