This clip is from part 4 of my FamiTracker Tutorial series, and offers a simple analogy to help understand the roles of sample rate and bit depth in audio technology. Sample rate refers to how many samples of a given audio source are taken in 1 second of time. Bit depth refers to the amount of information measured in bits contained in each individual sample.

The Michael Albrecht Project - Vol.1, Ep.1
This video is the first in a series inspired by the YouTube channel of @michaelalbrecht2 . I first discovered Michaels videos a little over a year ago and immediately resonated with the material and approach. His production style is a great example of being creative within a set of limitations. He records each voice individually on a keyboard, then layers them on top of one another to create the full track ; using an overhead shot of the keyboard as the visual component.
With this project, I take the same approach but instead of piano, Ill be using guitars (and occasionally some other instruments if the piece calls for it). Ill be focusing mostly on music of the NES and SNES. Thanks for watching, and check out Michaels channel!

Before completing this project, the Invention in D Minor was always my favorite. However, after having spent a considerable amount of time with each of the 15, this one has now taken its place.
Its an elegantly conceived piece of music that packs a ton of action into the a brief 60 second window. The phrase upon which the composition is built exciting in and of itself - but Bach adeptly weaves it through minor and major moods by way of the cycle of 4ths. The piece breathes with an undulating sense of tension and release, creating tons of excitement along the way before completing its brief but intrepid journey to leave you right back where you started.

This is an istrumental video game cover of Lower Brinstar (also known as โRed Soilโ, and Underground) from Super Metroid for the SNES featuring Samus Aran.
The instrumentation includes: acoustic and electruc guitars, electric piano, drum/percussion, electric bass, flute, melodica, and synthesizers. In addition to the live instruments, I sampled some sounds from the original game using .spc files and incorporated them into the arrangement using sound design techniques in Ableton Live 12. This was one of my favorite games from the 16bit era, and my hope was to offer a musical tribute that would be personal to me, while preserving the dark, eerie, mood of the original.
