Here's a simple and lightweight solution for gigs and direct recording.
the awesome Amptweaker TightMetal Pro in combination with Two Notes CAB.
What you hear is just that...the Tightmetal Pedal (no external boost) into Two Notes Torpedo, using the built in power amp simulation and Mesa 4x12 IRs.
The Tightmetal was designed by the original 5150 designer James Brown and it definitely delivers that crushing metal tone you'd expect from anything 5150.
The Tightmetal is rather versatile though with its built in boost, 2 separate loops (plus side trak loop), 2 gates, switches for tightness, different voicings etc.
For this clip I had the mid switch set to "thrash", everything else was off (smooth, fat, chomp etc).
