Shitty game, but I've done Popeye 1 once, and right before this one I did Popeye 2 (was requested), so why not do the third as well.
The opponents are easy. The same tactic can be used on all of them. As soon as you start grabbing each other, you just throw the opponents, then lay on them, then wait for them to knock you off, then you wait for them to be on you, then you knock them off and lay on them, repeat = win. Would be like a 6-7 min video if I did it like this + even more boring, so took my time, showed the moves and stuff. But got bored at the later opponents so started doing the tactic/trick then.
I have no idea how to grab stuff. I managed to grab a can of spinach by accident at one point.

The RNG in this game makes it very hard. Theres no pattern to a bomb-fuse ignition, torch guns spraying fire, things falling. It can happen at any time and several times in a row, or just once with 5+ sec delay. Every time I load a state, everything happens differently. Like, I save, then stand still for 5 sec, stuff happens during that time, then I load the state and now things happen differently. Got hit by things constantly. You cant wait for the coast to be clear, as it never happens, you just have to go and hope for the best. You might think Ill wait for the flame torch thingy to shoot once and move immediately after, well, it might shoot 2 or 3 times in a row, or none at all.
You only have the 3 lives, which consists of 3 hearts, each heart is 3 hit points.
When you first play it you would think the game only has music, no sound effects, but they do exist. Well, just a couple - the exploding bombs and the game over voice... AFAIK. Added the game over thingy at the end.
All burgers need to be collected on each level for Wimpy to let you pass.
You need spinach to boost your arm strength so you can beat Brutus and that pink thing without losing a hit point. As soon as its depleted, move away quickly and try to get another one. They pop up randomly. Seems it mostly happens when I engage in a fight, which I dont want to when I dont have any strength, thus losing a hit point if hit, which happened a lot. So, I try my best to move close then run away without getting hit.
Wasnt until at the end of level 2 when I noticed the bomb in the panel shows the direction of a lit bomb (wasnt mentioned in the manual). At first I thought that its not fair that they can go off randomly like that outside the screen, taking a hit point each time, but now when I can see the direction, its okay.
I found three glitches/bugs. First one is Popeye gets locked in the last animation cycle (or whatever) he was in when Brutus dies. So sometimes after I defeated him, Popeye would just walk, lie down knocked out, or something else while the rescue music played. Second one is walking to the left at the beginning of each level makes him moonwalk (showed it on the last level). Third one is really annoying - you press fire to punch, and you do it as fast as you can against Brutus, but if you accidentally press one more time after hes dead, it skips the rescue part and proceeds immediately to the loading screen of the next game.
On the last level I didnt care about being careful anymore, so lost most of my lives and hit points there. Also jumped down into the water to show the stuff at the bottom.
The part of the music around 3:35 reminds me of the one in Bad Dudes/Dragon Ninja.

Quite an addictive little game. Simple and fun.
You get 60 seconds to solve each level, which is OK, but its weird they count UP to 60 instead of down to 0 from 60.
It says it has 6 levels, which it kind of does, but after youve completed those and choose to restart the puzzle, you get 6 new ones with pictures in the background which makes it much harder.
At the end of each 6 rounds, you are given an IQ score. Both of mine were awful, so I did the first 6 levels again, not just to take revenge on the bad IQ score comments, but also to do them all in time... this time, as I didnt finish level 5 and 6 before the timer ran out.
So... Your IQ is that of a gnat! - Well, fuck gnat! (pun on that, Im so funny :P)

Cant have both sfx and music, so chose music as its more fun to play then, and maybe watch as well. Sure, not a long tune, so loops maaaany times.
The game itself is so-so. Picked it only because Im in the mood to play some shoot-em-up thingies and hadnt played this one before.

And this was the third and final game in the Moves series (Army Moves, Navy Moves, Arctic Moves), and also the best one. I liked the alien part the most.
Bit too easy. Too much health and ammo everywhere, so I skipped a bunch, cuz felt like being a thug. I did have to replay a portion as I noticed the time thingies were quite important :), but didnt need ALL those, but most.
The outro just ends like that. The spaceship attaches to station, the end.")

Yeah, bad arcade port I guess. Runs very slow on a stock Amiga 500 (I played on a 1200).
Insanely difficult. Its impossible to not die a bunch of times. Some encounters can just take all your health in seconds. Sure, would have helped a bit running it on a standard slow Amiga 500 where things runs slooow, but even then you would 100% have died several times anyway before beating the game.
The girl you kinda rescue at 12:44 can be killed, was just 1-2 more shots on her and she would have fallen to the ground. So, even if you only kill the guy and not her, she would still die on the next screen. Normally as I wanna show as much of a game as possible, I would have killed her to show her lying down, but skipped it as I would feel bad about it :P, even though she is alive and then dies on the next screen. So, whether I kill her or not, the outcome is the same.
Whats weird is the game has a lot of different tunes, but only one is played - the title music. I checked the music file (yes, all tunes are in one file) and theres a bunch. No matter the emulated system and settings, heck even disk version (tried cracked adf, ipf and WHDLoad versions... longplayed the ipf version ofc), it still only played the title music. I checked clips of this game on YouTube from both Atari ST and Amiga versions, and none of the 5 or so Amiga clips had music (just wanted to see in case someone else managed to get it working), BUT, the ST version has music during the parts between the stages (the one with a picture and text underneath).
Ive run into a case like this before - The Coin-Op version of Turtles. Only title music there as well, none elsewhere, yet the music file has a bunch of different ones. If the different tunes were different files, I could have guessed maybe they didnt play them during game as they didnt have enough memory for both gfx+sfx and music, but then at least they could have added code to check if the user has more than 512kb/1mb of memory and used the music.
Also, the game only requires 512kb of memory, and its weird it refuses to work with expanded memory, like 512kb in FAST mem. So, would only run with CHIP memory, but could be any size apparently. Normally when a game is advertised to need 512kb, it would still work with that in both CHIP and FAST.")

Crazy hard! Died many times on each screen. Some took me like 15 deaths before I could pass them, urgh.
Couldnt find a proper longplay of the Amiga version, so had to do this game.
One mistake I did was accidentally starting the game 3 secs before the title music finished (it loops, was 3 more sec of the tune before loop). I usually include the entire tune of stuff if they are not too bad, dunno why I pressed fire too soon this time, oh well. To most this is no big deal, but I feel like mention it anyway as it bothers me and would be easy to record that part again, but Im also lazy :)
Couldnt be bothered to collect enough bubbles (which are credits) to buy the 2 way megatorch (only collected enough to show the shop, as it wont show if you dont have at least 10 credits), so memory hacked so I could try it. Its just like a normal flashlight weapon, but it shoots 2 shots on each side, one of them is a straight/horizontal normal shot, and the second is vertical, so nothing special. BTW, they laugh if you try to buy something you cant afford :), as you can hear when I tried to buy something too expensive.
Couldnt get closer at 8:40.

As with all my Amiga videos, I record them using WinUAE (an emulator) with its built-in avi recorder. But couldnt this time as it doesnt capture the audio for genlock stuff (or I just dont know how to make it happen), so had to resort to using a third party recording tool instead, which caused a bunch of problems.
Couldnt use the typical savestates method I normally do as I cant use WinUAEs own avi recorder, so had to come up with a new way. I re-encoded the video with a frame counter outside the game-display area, so I could more easily cut out unwanted mistakes and match the different parts together as I was constantly saving and loading states while recording one big video file.
The video needed to be re-encoded anyway as those I found online that were recommended for use with WinUAE had the wrong aspect ratio (you can tick the keep aspect ratio box on the Genlock tab in the emulator, but it only makes it a little bit more accurate, not fully). They also have interlace line stuff (and the seeking took too long for my taste, so made them seek instantly instead). I found on YouTube a higher res version of some of these ALG games without interlace + they were in 60fps instead of 29.970/30. So was thinking of using them for my longplays instead, but... fuck it, couldnt be bothered, and the ones I used were the recommended ones anyway, even though I myself could make better looking/running ones. Even with any scanline/interlace stuff turned off (afaik) in WinUAE, the emulator still added some of its own lines for some reason. You can see them in the white flash when shooting for example. These lines are not part of the video. Maybe the flash is an image by itself, dunno.
Another problem I had was getting a smooth video playback, like I get with real media players. In WinUAE via genlock its random. Sometimes smooth, sometimes laggy (has nothing to do with how fast my computer is etc). Turning on Standard Vsync in the emulator helped a bit as it made the video frame rate more stable more of the time, but still stutter at least once per minute. So, I constantly quick saved and quick loaded, so whenever there was a stutter, I loaded and replayed the part until it ran smooth (I left some stutter in maybe here and there, but they are super minor). So yeah, LOADS of editing needed (https://i.imgur.com/TkJJn06.png).
Turning on the Vsync made the the sounds not part of the genlock video (like shooting, inserting coin, reloading...) play too fast. I solved this by setting my desktop refresh rate to 60 to match WinUAEs frame rate it was using for the game.
Then theres the accuracy problem of where you shoot as well. In the service menu of the game you can calibrate the aim, but that only seem to make the red dot match where the crosshair is, which is not enough to accurately be able to hit stuff. The accuracy is a lot about how wide/tall the video is and where its positioned on the screen (yes, I even played around with the genlock_offset_x/y in the .uae). Seems the default non-correct aspect ratio that makes the video way too wide (IMO) makes it more accurate, but I wanted 1:1 aspect ratio. Wish we could change the width of this flash area, as it seems the hitboxes are based on this white area, so if we dont have the genlock video properly sized and positioned this white area is made for, shooting things will not be accurate. So, anyway, with the video aspect ratio I chose to use, I often have to shoot far to the left or right of the things to hit them, and I sometimes try to mask this by randomly spraying the bullets on and around the target. IRL I would just hit them in the center with one bullet :) as Ive played these games in the arcades before.
Oooor, maybe I just do something wrong and there was an easy solution to everything and I didnt have to go through all this trouble/effort to get a smooth video playback, or bad shooting accuracy because of things not lining up properly, and heck maybe I could even record with sound with WinUAEs avi output and use the standard way of saving/loading states. Well, so far I couldnt come up with anything better than what Ive been doing after hours of research/testing.
