A 29-year-old American man was arrested in Bangkok after allegedly stealing from a 7-Eleven and attacking a traffic police officer who tried to intervene. Police said Alexander Troy Lopez slashed the officer across the neck with a utility knife before fleeing toward Sua Pa Plaza. The injured officer was taken to hospital and was later reported in stable condition, while officers found Lopez hiding near Suan Mali Roundabout less than 30 minutes later. Investigators said Lopez appeared intoxicated and incoherent, and a preliminary urine test detected methamphetamine, with further medical testing planned. He faces an attempted murder charge involving an officer on duty along with a robbery-related offence as police continue reviewing his background and immigration status.
