Sarita Allen, who danced with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater as a member of the company from 1975 through 1984 and again from 1989 through 1995, spoke with us about her time dancing with AILEY. She discusses what it was like to work with Alvin, how he encouraged the dancers to expose themselves to art, music, and poetry, and what it was like to see so many faces that she knew on the video surround screen in 'Edges of Ailey' at the Whitney.
