For the past month or so Ive had my eye on this track as the first to learn how to superhop on. I started off assuming it would be rather trivial to get it to beat the 1:12 3lap with shooting star, however was going to require 6 mushrooms to barely sub 1:13... so, I switched to phantom and still ended up having trouble as I was going to require 4 mushrooms to sub 1:20. Unsurprisingly, I abandoned the prospect of it being doable for 3lap, but realised it may still have potential for flap. Thats when I realised something.
See, the issue with the previous flap is I was already entering the lap at nearly max (120 XZ) speed. If I wanted to match that with superhopping, Id need to either find a way to perform the ejection (and specifically, the momentum hops) with an ODB or manage to reach max speed with a superhop by the time you hit the finish line (and with the ability to reach the first turn and go around it). My workaround was none other than finding a brand new supergrind spot, which not only solved both the issues but also improved upon both of their potentials.
With that out of the way, I needed to sort out where exactly I was going to use my mushrooms. First of all, the downhill and open area with the boost ramp would all have SH or carried momentum so that wasnt an option. The S-turn between the standard grass cut and the blue ramp could potentially be an option, however due to the trick ramp and the sharpness of the following turn, it was actually slower to shroom and SH there than it was to use a mushroom elsewhere (and also slower to SH there at all). Lastly, since there are no other places left, the remaining shroomspots are just the usual 3 (all three grass cuts from every flap youve ever seen before).
The only thing left was for me to realise that superhopping the short section between the last shroom and the finish line saved a decent amount if done right. Before I actually went on optimising the superhop inputs and timing with text files, I was at a 22.5, unsure whether this was going to work out either. Now, after that one strat realisation and further optimisation, a single lap of Moo Moo Meadows, for the first time, can be completed in under 22 seconds.
Might superhopping still be faster than supergrinding for 3lap? Possibly. But I know I wont be the one to do it. Nobody can force me to kill my baby.

First turn - lap 3 is the slowest, then lap 1, then lap 2 is the fastest
Second turn - lap 3 is the slowest, then lap 2, then lap 1 is the fastest
First mushroom - lap 1 is slowest, then lap 2, then lap 3 is the fastest
Third turn - lap 2 is the slowest, then lap 3, then lap 1 is the fastest
Fourth turn - lap 3 is the slowest, then lap 2, then lap 1 is the fastest
Pre-cave straight - lap 2 is the slowest, then lap 1, then lap 3 is the fastest
Cave turn - lap 1 is the slowest, then lap 3, then lap 2 is the fastest
Cave mushrooms - lap 1 is the slowest, then lap 3, then lap 2 is the fastest

Mid 1:11 is probably possible if this were optimised heaps but its a 200cc TAS so not really relevant.

In this video, I drive a full lap of the custom track Alpine Peak backwards using all 3 mushrooms available in time trials. Because this doesnt actually require any of the mushrooms, I dont use them. In order for a track to count as being completed backwards, you must start in lap 1 and travel through all of lap 0 backwards, finishing by reaching lap -1. We will be going through the tracks of the CTGP 1.03-1112 update alphabetically, and returning to any past tracks if breakthroughs are made (such as this one) that change the statistics of the progression of the challenge (more on this later in the description).
This video is an improvement over the previous strat that completed the track backwards in 3 respawns (https://youtu.be/ZSrOdVljJVw). Since then, Fear (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjeSAtYttyyGPdsliEeY9iA) showed that it was possible to skip the first two respawns by utilising a trick known as slow wheelie glitch to skip from KCP 10 (there are 13 key checkpoints in the track if you include CP0) to an earlier part of the track (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/891072226340765707/913186313509945364/24-21-53-52.mp4), and then drive forward to hit KCP 9, which is after (relative to facing backwards) the first 2 respawns.
Here, there is 1 respawn that is mandatory to complete the track backwards, that can be done with any amount of mushrooms. The respawns is as follows:

Backstory: This is a series I had originally planned to collaborate solely with Charlie on, however, since starting the project, Jellopuff helped out with the 2nd track, and Charlie stopped doing MKWii TASing, so a lot has changed. I have some more people helping me with this, but videos will be more central to my channel since its way easier for people to understand the progression of the challenge if the progress updates are consistent with the previous ones (the titles and descriptions, the rules of the challenge, the explanations made, etc.). That being said, the only reason for the delay on uploading progress on these is down to my motivation to record them, and since youre reading this, it means I got the motivation to record this specific one. I have 9 more tracks already done that just need to be recorded and edited (Charlie and I started in April and have been putting it off a LOT).
What I do in the video is exactly the same as the previous strat, but with the aforementioned improvements included. I also wanted slightly different driving afterwards so that every part of the video included something new, and also have vanilla game music turned on now as well. As far as we know, there is no way to skip back from the ice section to the spiral section without respawning, so this is as best as we will be able to get. Tomorrows video will be on Aquania.
There are a few statistics and various versions of this challenge that I will keep track of that allow for a better understanding of whats going on. Below is a list of all of them:
1. Completing the track backwards with the minimum number of respawns, where you have access to a certain amount of mushrooms (a = Infinite, b = 3, c = 2, d = 1, e = 0)
2. Completing the track backwards with the minimum number of respawns, then minimising the number of mushrooms from there
3. Completing the track backwards with the minimum number of mushrooms, regardless of respawn count
