Defense dans la rue = Self defense for the street was a movement in France in the late 19th and early 20th cent. In this time the gangs of Paris (the Apache) became a threat people wanted to defend themself if the face them. Émile André wrote two books: 100 façons de se défendre dans la rue avec armes and 100 façons de se défendre dans la rue san armes. The presented knife fighting method is obviously written down in the book 100 ways to defend yourself with weapons.
DDLR Knife fighting is a combination of Boxe Francaise (Savate), fencing with epee and sabre and Spanish knife fighting with the Navaja knife from Spain written don in the Manual de Baratero
