Happy Juneteenth from all of us at the History Center! Today we present this historic character portrayal of a Union Soldier from the 31st United States Colored Infantry Regiment who witnesses General Order No. 3 being read to the formerly enslaved and free people of Galveston, Texas on June 19th, 1865.
