Alberta dropped its moratorium on new renewable energy projects and imposed new rules that appeared designed to ban renewable energy from 76% of Alberta and classes 1 and 2 agricultural lands.
Clarifications have been released. We talk to Vittoria Bellissimo, president of the Canadian Renewable Energy Association to find out if Alberta will return to boom times for renewable energy or bust.
In part one we look at restrictions on agricultural lands, buffer zones around protected areas and the significant uncertainty heaped on the once booming industry in Alberta.
