The **Akwa Ibom State Police Command** has directed political parties, support groups and associations to formally notify the police before holding rallies, processions, campaigns, meetings or other large public political gatherings in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, **Baba Mohammed Azare**, said the measure is aimed at preventing clashes and scheduling conflicts while allowing security agencies to make adequate security and traffic arrangements.

Organisers are expected to provide details including the date, time, venue, expected number of participants and proposed routes where applicable.

The Commissioner also warned political thugs and troublemakers to stay away from violence as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
