Scandal (1950) Directed by Akira Kurosawa and starring Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura.

movie follows the story of an Artist played by Ichiro Aoe (Toshiro Mifune). He ends up meeting a pop singer while he's painting a picture in the mountains. Miyako Saigo (Yoshiko Yamaguchi). She has missed her bus, so he offers her a ride back to her hotel on his motorbike. They are photographed together by scumbag journalists and a tabloid magazine prints a fake news story about a love affair. Mifune's character then hires a lawyer, no other than (Takashi Shimura). And they sue the magazine, and what we get is a bit of a court house drama.
