Hey Birt! | A.K.A. "The Junker", C64 Extreme Case Repair @HeyBirt | Uploaded February 2020 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
In this video, I dug out a bread bin C64 that I got years ago. It had been badly smashed in shipment and my repair attempts at that time were less than stellar, well…some were pretty awful.
A ‘C64 Case Saver’ kit was fitted to take care of all the normal areas that get damaged on a bread-bin and then the real work began. Cracks were sealed with acetone, hot wire stapes were added, and 3D printed gussets were epoxied into place to shore up weak sections.
Just when things were looking good disaster struck. With more work, more acetone and more hot staples we managed to save this beat-up old case. Follow along and see how it was done.
