TAKING ON EEHV TOGETHER: We faced a worst-case scenario with Ajabu recently, when he tested positive for elephant endotheliotropic herpesvirus (EEHV), a deadly virus that affects young elephants both in the wild and in human care. Thankfully, Ajabu beat the odds and made a full recovery! This success story was possible thanks to the preparedness and tireless dedication of our animal care and veterinary staff, as well as many others within The Association of Zoos and Aquariums who stepped up to help in any way they could — from providing antiviral medication and expertise to moral support as our staff dealt with this insidious virus.
