There has been much speculation about AJ actually signing back with TNA less than 24 hours before his contract ended. Both parties have both gotten what they wanted. AJ did get more money than what TNA was originally offering, but TNA got AJ to sign for less than he wanted with less dates.
The reports that have came through have all been shot down as fakes, but this one reported done by Wrestle Zone seems to actually have credibility. You can read the report here:

It basically states that AJ leaving is actually a work, and a good one at that.
Again, there is no evidence that this report is correct, however it seems to have the most credibility.
He has dates until March 2014, apparently the one in March is actually being paid for by TNA, if AJ is not under a TNA contract, why would TNA be paying for his appearance at a show that has nothing to do with them?
A source within TNA has "exposed" this as nothing more than a work, however it's said only a couple people who work for TNA are actually aware whether or not AJ is done, if he is still with the company, TNA doesn't want it spilled out, so only telling a couple people may be in their best interest.
I hope it's true and it's just a work, however, if it is a work, they better get him back on TV here soon, sometime in January, or else they will have a lot more pissed off fans.
