The Chief Minister says problems with the airport e-gates will hopefully be resolved this week or the next.
Fabian Picardo told GBC a software issue has meant the e-gates are not able to process Gibraltar residents and EU citizens.
Because of this, Gibraltar residents coming home are having to go through checks with both the Gibraltar and Spanish authorities.
Mr Picardo said third country nationals - such as those from the UK - are able to use the e-gates after previously having gone through the European Entry-Exit System.
