Camp Toccoa was a World War II paratrooper training camp established in 1942, and was made famous as the birthplace of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. The camp focused on producing elite airborne units capable of rapid deployment behind enemy lines. Though its facilities were basic, the rigorous training at Camp Toccoa forged highly disciplined and resilient paratroopers who went on to fight in major operations such as D-Day, Operation Market Garden, and the Battle of the Bulge. Today, the site remains a historic landmark honoring the legacy of America’s airborne forces.
