AI is transforming identity security in two directions. Organizations are using AI to automate identity management, while AI agents themselves are becoming identities that require permissions, monitoring, and governance.

Without clear accountability, auditing, and access controls, AI-driven workflows could introduce new security and compliance risks. Identity platforms will increasingly need to manage both people and AI agents together.

Should AI agents be governed with the same identity and access controls as human employees?
