Aggressor are a Polish death/thrash metal band formed in 1988 - and you can hear the era on their sound! This demo was their first recorded material (afaik) and it is undeniably a product of its time. A very solid thrash groundwork, as expected, with raspy vocals and sometimes some bursts of extra energy and tempo that solidify this as early death metal.
The band went on to record 5 demos before their debut album in 2008 - 20 years after their formation! They've been going strong and have now a total of 4 albums under their belt.

Merciless Blasphemy is Atonements decapitating debut, 18 minutes of pure raw thrash metal with a good ammount of death influence.
This band keeps their shti straight - no frills, no bullshit riffs, short and concise song titles, and, most important of all, sick fucking riffs from start to end. From what I heard, there are influences form Kreator, Merciless or Sodom in this demo, but the band still gave their music a more modern touch, but without ever losing that raw old school edge that makes this so good.
These lads show potential, keep an eye on them everyone.

Amorphous Mass were a death metal band from the UK and A Dream of Fatality was their sole output.
Featuring members from the currently active death/sludge band Warcrab, Amorphous Mass demo is a solid slab of mostly mid-paced death metal with tons of groove and some crazy songwriting skills to be able to pull off 8min tracks and making them feel 3min long. The cover art was the first thing that caught my attention, especially because of the use of the purple/dark pink tones - I just think those colours look cool as fuck on demos and people should use them more.
They dont make demos like they used to!

Blasphemous Evil were a Finnish black/death metal band. Formed in 1999, the band released 1 demo, 1 full lenght and 1 split. Around 2001, they went by Vomitfago, having only released one split under that name, and then, in an unknown year, they went back to Blasphemous Evil.
This is a very short demo, not even 10 minutes long, which means that its very easy to listen and possibly has a great replay value. The first intro track immediately lets you know what kind of black/death you are in for - and the rest of the demo doesnt disappoint......

Sons of Chaos were an american death metal band. Formed in 1993 and active until 2003, theyve released 2 demos and 2 LPs, this being their second demo.
Sons of Chaos would later turn to a more brutal death metal sound in their LPs and you can definitely hear that sound here! Its totally a demo that a death metal band would do before going full broots. Really solid death metal with a lot of technicality (dont worry, its not tech death trash). Baller demo, check out their debut album too!

Hang Em High is Misery Indexs 3rd EP and 9th overall release of the band. These Americans form the band in 2001 and are still going strong, having released their latest album in 2022 (ok maybe its been a while, not going 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 strong).
Misery Index were seminal for me, one of the first bands that got me into metal. Found them while looking for bands that sounded like Assück... Ironically enough, this has almost no similarities to them. Either way, massive deathgrind packed into about 3min40sec - yeah not the whole 7min since the last track is essentially a pseudo-acoustic rendition of one of their previous tracks. I was surprised that the EP wasnt on youtube already since the band is quite popular now.

This is some EVIL death metal! Infernal Atavism, from Japan, play death metal like it was
meant to be played: down tuned, lo-fl and angry! Japan isnt particularly well known for their
death metal, at least to me theyre more associated with heavy metal, grindcore and brutal
death, but DAMN when they play straight death its a feast for my ears!

Soulless were an Italian death metal band. Formed in 92, the band has only released this demo, fading into obscurity soon after. Their sound is not very complex and features a bit of a doomy influence too. Just another fun and simple early 90s demo thats guaranteed to deliver at least a bit of brain rot to those that spare 8 minutes to check it out.

Burning Human are an American death metal band, formed in 1990. Despite being active for 32 years now, the band has only released this demo, 1 split in 96 and their debut album in 2009.
This band thrives on mid-paced death metal. It could be annoying or repetitive for a 25min demo to have always the same approach to the songs, but somehow it works. Sure, they do have some fast paced segments, just check out the first half of Life Support for example, and they definitely add to the variety and make their demo less stale, but damn those grooves are definitely the highlight to me. (Sometimes it even feels like they were flirting with NYBDM!)
Also, if anyone knows what movie they sampled for the intro of Gouging, I would be very thankful if you could share that info with me - sounds super entertaining!

Hecatomb were a Polish death/doom metal band, formed in 1991. As far as I know, they released only 2 tapes, Second Side... being their debut, and Clandestine Beauty somewhere around 93/94.
Its a super gritty sound, a proof of the super amateurish recording, but it still shines when it comes to the riffing. Some segments inside the songs feel disjointed, yeah, but what would death metal be without some musically illiterate fellas that only know how to write riffs and nothing else?
Some bits get crazy in here thanks to that disjointedness (is that even a word?), but you can bury me alive if you dont think thats pure old school clusmy charm. Fuck yeah, give me more of that.

Disfoterror are a Brazillian death/war metal band. Formed in 1993, they have released 5 demos, this being their second one, 2 splits, 1 EP and a debut album in 2023.
Disforterrors second demo is pretty much the same thing as the first but slightly more catchy, Id say. Still chaotic, still war metal, still with a bunch of fret vomit - but man, its good. Just like last time, if you really arent able to overlook the sound quality I wouldnt recommend this to you, but if youre used to this kind of deal its a really neat demo.

Sickness were a Floridian death metal band, having released the Torture of Existence demo in 1994 that I uploaded a long time ago.
Unlike the demo, Ornaments of Mutilation is more straight foward and has less tempo variation. Its also shorter somehow. They decided to change the production for the album, which ended up sounding a bit weird sometimes, but its fairly easy to get over that. Also, the debut has triple the blast beats the demo had, sometimes sounds like they wanted to make a deathgrind album.
