Meet Nathan Evans, the production and costume designer behind Escape!
Escape! is a creative collaboration practice developed as part of the Master of Arts Screen studies, bringing together a fantastic crew to explore the craft of articulating nine disciplines of expression into one story on screen.
Nathan shares tips about his world-building workflow, from visualisation technology to communicate ideas and evaluate budget and feasibility, to a design view on cinematic storytelling and collaboration with other heads of department to achieve the film vision.
He has recently been recognised at the APDG Awards with the AFTRS Emerging Designer for a Screen Production, for his design work in the Master of Arts Screen short, Interview with a Hero. Earlier in the year, he showcased his work at the 2025 Design Showcase West (DSW) at UCLA, along with colleagues from his class, Ella Drinkwater, Jordan Taylor and selected students from around the globe.
The Master of Arts Screen is delivered in nine disciplines – Directing, Producing, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Sound Design, Music and Documentary – the program is designed for emerging screen professionals ready to deepen their craft and lead with confidence in a rapidly evolving industry.
