More people have contact with the dead than most of us realize. Mediums do this by consciously inviting the dead to make contact, but there are many who remain unaware of their abilities until they are surprised and often frightened by seeing the dead or hearing their voices.
These events have been coined “spontaneous mediumship experiences” or SMEs and can also manifest as messages through dreams where the dead impart information that the dreamer
could not have known otherwise. SMEs can be activated via trauma, illness, near death experiences, close encounters with extra terrestrials, shamanic initiation experiences and in many other ways, suggesting that once exposed to “other dimensions” we can form a lasting connection with the spirit world.
