AerynOS 2026.03 has officially been released, bringing GNOME 50 and KDE Plasma 6.6.3 together in a single ISO. This independent Linux distribution, previously known as Serpent OS, continues to push cutting-edge open-source technology with its own Moss package manager and Boulder build system.
In this video, we take a quick look at what’s new in the latest AerynOS release. The distribution ships with a Wayland-only GNOME 50 experience, including features like Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) enabled by default, fractional scaling, and improved parental controls. For KDE fans, the same ISO also includes KDE Plasma 6.6.3, built with KDE Frameworks 6.24, KDE Gear 25.12.3, and Qt 6.11.
AerynOS 2026.03 also includes many updated core components such as Mesa 26.0.2, PipeWire 1.6.2, Wine 11.5, Wayland 1.25.0, and LLVM 22.1.1, all powered by the Linux 6.18 LTS kernel for stability and hardware support.
