Advocates speak out against Alberta’s Bill 11 – August 31, 2026 @cpac

At a news conference on Parliament Hill, health advocates call on the federal government to stop the implementation of Alberta’s Bill 11. The new legislation will allow for doctors in Alberta to perform some medical services in both the public and private health-care systems, which critics say amounts to a two-tier system.

Speaking at the event are Jason MacLean (chair of the Canadian Health Coalition), Chris Gallaway (Friends of Medicare, Alberta), Natalie Mehra (director of the Ontario Health Coalition), Dr. Braden Manns (Canadian Doctors for Medicare, Alberta), and Andrew Longhurst (health policy researcher, Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, B.C.).
