A behind the scenes look at my indie film, Mar de Soledad. Written, shot and editing in two weeks I show you my creative process, lighting, and production. Along with the equipment (Sony A7RII, Sigma CINE lens, Aputure lights, Quasar Science Q50-R Q-LED, Matthews Studios Equipment, etc.) I used to capture the complex issues our elderly population face: isolation, depression, neglect, and being pushed to the fringes of society.
One in three Americans ages 50 to 80 report feeling lonely. Yet loneliness and social isolation are brushed aside as an inevitable part of aging. When in fact, it is a serious issue with significant health consequences that result in heightened risk for heart attack, stroke, dementia, and premature mortality.
This problem isn’t just the story of isolated individuals, but a confluence of social circumstances that result in pushing our seniors to the periphery of society.
