i know i know, i've made so many incarnations of this cover to the point the multipe remakes of this song could be thrown together in a mod lmao (don't..), but this'll be the final remake i make of adventures await, i think this is a nice end to the backstory of tails becoming corrupted in the actual main week, expect a mindless v2 cover when a flp comes out for that though

anyway i changed how the darkness (my variant of it anyway thats in sonic's corrupted frontiers), basically after getting in contact with it via touching it or consuming it, it will go into your bloodstream and slowly change your blood to the darkness, goo i guess? i dunno what it is

but it basically corrupts your brain and makes it so your body ceases function, so you're basically "dead" but not really dead, more of in a coma state until the darkness finally revives you, the host's body however will still be dead, theres no pulse, no brain activity, nothing

its a walking suit for the darkness, the only reason sonic here looked normal until turning to tails is because he had his back to him, that and tails hadn't seen sonic since he mostly forgot a lot of things that happened, and died

atleast, tails thought he died, everyone else did too, but nope he was alive, and well, and yet his grave seemed dug out, and then when he turned to tails thats specifically when the darkness started attacking sonic's world

i will say: the only survivor of sonic's world is probably robotnik and metal sonic, as they both got out of there before they eventually broke into his base, sonics still on the hunt for them, along with pibby,

and it seems like sonic's promise to keep bringing tails with him onto adventures seems to be kept, since tails (when hes corrupted) is never seen without sonic, and considering sonic is the darkness' vessel until its defeat, it seems tails will get some upgrades aswell.

also unlike darkness takeover (which i heavily based sonic's corrupted frontiers on, along with P:A which started this), if sonic gets uncorrupted, depending on what phase hes on, he'll either live or die

phase 1-3, he'll live as long as he gets treatment from any wounds he got from his fights with the survivors

phase 4-5, he'll die, especially in five since his face is completely gone, along with his entire lower-half being torn apart, so hes basically dead anyway.

tails is the same, but since he fuses with tails in phase 4 to 5, he'd be reunited with his (friendship-wise) big bro in the creature's head, but obviously chained and forced to give up on his friends (which is what the now-corrupted sonic is doing in this cover, making tails give up to forever be with sonic, and have their adventures (story in this case) never end), which he probably would just for the pain to stop.

so the both will die if they're uncorrupted in phase 4 to 5 as tails' body is fused with sonic's, kinda sad to think about but hey atleast they die together, best friends until the end
