Adopting two Dads
An increasing number of gay couples are having children through adoption, ivf and surrogacy. Increasingly, parents will need to explain to their children about same-gender parents.
In Adopting our two Dads, my third book from the Somefamilies.net series, we meet Daddy Jay, Daddy Bryan, Daniel and Selena. And through the story of their adoption we learn how their fathers met, fell in love and started their family with the help of an adoption agency.
It follows on from our first book Some people have two Dads where we meet Daisy on her birthday and learn how her fathers met, fell in love and started their family with the help of a surrogate.
And Some people have two Mums where we meet Milo and through the story of his bed time routine we learn how his mothers met, fell in love and started a family with the help of ivf and a sperm donor.
Our unique books gently show, through the everyday routines of these children, how family life with same-gender parents is very similar to any other family.
We are currently working on our next set of books, which will cover the topic of same-gender couple adoption (two mums) and equal marriage.
The author: Luca Panzini
Luca grew up in a large Italian family. He and his partner have been talking about planning a family of their own. In preparation for the eventual arrival of their child Luca discovered a noticeable lack of representation of same-sex families, and so the idea for this book was born.
About the LeffewsThey were a very private family living in northern CA. That was until CA passed prop 8. They started making YouTube videos to show that families with gay parents are no different than families with heterosexual parents. Jay is a police officer and Bryan is a stay at home dad where they live near San Francisco, they adopted their two kids Daniel and Selena and also foster different children from time to time. They are active campaigners for equal rights.
