In this lesson, we finish the core rig build in Adobe Animate so the character is ready to animate smoothly.
We’ll cover:
Creating hand pose switches (front hand + back hand) so you can swap poses instantly
Building a hair switch with a blank frame so hair can disappear when needed (side head view vs 3/4 view)
Converting the rest of the body parts into symbols (arms, legs, feet, body, pelvis, etc.)
Setting proper origin/pivot points so rotations bend naturally (elbow/knee/shoulder/wrist)
Using Animate CC 2019 Parenting to connect the rig (pelvis → body → head/arms, pelvis → legs, etc.)
Final polish: fixing limb bend gaps, adjusting pivots, and adding a pelvis patch to hide body/pelvis separation during rotation
✅ Course Playlist (all parts):
youtube.com/playlist?list=PL75fjdmpFwHEjwaQfC5FEat0OPXNFA3_f
If you want the full course at once (plus work files), this course is also available on Udemy.
What you’ll learn in this video
How to build switch-style hand symbols (fist/point/relaxed)
How to manage parts that must appear behind the body (like back hair)
How to set pivots correctly so joints rotate cleanly
How to use parenting to speed up character rigging in Animate CC
How to fix common rig issues before animating (gaps, overlaps, odd bends)
