I've been experimenting with a system to do semi-procedural character animations in Unity. This system removes the endless repetition commonly seen in character animations. The code is open source (github.com/TheWizardsCode/Character) take, play with it, provide feedback in the comments, even issue pull requests if you want to help improve it.
In this video we have a talking UMA character (youtu.be/jpYtT47-FSE) whose facial animations are handled by Salsa Lip Sync (youtu.be/fqz61ND-fT4 ) and whose body animations are driven by the open source code.
00:00 Introduction
01:14 A little theory
01:56 Tracking Emotional State
06:07 Comparison videos after adding Interest Emotion
06:33 Examining the Animation Blend Trees
13:13 Salsa Lip Sync
13:54 Getting the Emotional State into the Blend Tree
16:09 Conclusion
Help us do cool stuff: github.com/TheWizardsCode/Animation
