Last week we built a simple reference edge and tapering jig that safely create straight edges without a jointer. Because it doubles as a tapering jig, in this follow-up, we’re adding a sliding hook to it: a small upgrade that makes tapers faster and more reliable to make.
This sliding hook tucks out of the way when you don’t need it, and locks into position when you do, giving you a reliable starting point for multiple cuts. It’s a simple add-on, but it's a lot of fun and makes the jig a joy to use.
If you’re looking to get more out of your table saw jig without overcomplicating the build, this is a fun little project that adds real functionality.
