The Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School in Jaisalmer is the first of three buildings in a complex collectively called the Gyaan Centre, which will also house a women’s cooperative, an exhibition and performance hall, and a textile museum. A project initiated by the international non-profit organization CITTA and designed by Diana Kellogg Architects, New York, it honours local craftsmanship, was built in accordance with the principles of sustainability, and seeks to empower the girl child.
