I did some weight relief on my Squier 50's Telecaster. As an unexpected consequence, I ended up with a nice acoustic sort of sound out the back of the guitar. Take a listen in this video. I get a bit of string noise, but might put some flat-wound strings on this one to smooth that bit out.
