As the evening started winding down at 670 on Oak Bar & Grill in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, we decided to change the mood a little with “Wicked Game,” the Chris Isaak classic.
Jody Lovelace sings lead on this one, with Mark Robinson adding those beautiful, atmospheric guitar parts. Jaren is chilling on the cajon. I'm playing the Kala U-Bass Scout fretless bass ukulele, trying to keep the bass sparse and moody and give the song plenty of room to breathe.
This one has a completely different feel from some of the country tunes we played earlier in the evening. Just three friends, a little acoustic music, and one of those songs that seems to sound even better as the sun goes down.
