Today, I am sharing with you some ways to achieve texture for mixed media artworks using soft textured materials that you probably already have around the house or in your art space. I am using medical gauzes, cheesecloth, produce bags, tea bag papers, baby wipes, twine, cardboard, and finally plaster wrap (Rigid Wrap.) I created a sampler in my Canson mixed media art journal so you can see how these materials look after they are adhered and painted. I took this piece from a brightly colored, slightly muddy piece to a muted and textured piece just by adding gesso at the end!
