Acceleration Starts Way Earlier Than You Think | Disc Golf Backhand Speed
If you’re struggling to throw farther, the problem usually isn’t strength—it’s when you accelerate.
In this video, I explain how acceleration actually works in the disc golf backhand and why waiting until the pocket to “throw hard” limits your speed. Real distance comes from starting acceleration earlier and continuing it smoothly until the disc is released.
Using a simple acceleration-lane analogy, I show why early, continuous acceleration creates more speed with less effort—even if you’re not an explosive or highly athletic player. Then we move into practical drills that help you feel and train this timing instead of relying on late power.
What you’ll learn:
• Why most players accelerate too late in the backhand
• How early acceleration builds more disc speed
• Why saving speed for the pocket slows you down
• Disc golf drills to improve acceleration and distance
If you want more distance without muscling the throw, this video will change how you think about speed and backhand timing.
