In November 2026, for the first time ever, the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) will take place in Antalya, Türkiye, under a shared leadership model whereby Türkiye will host the Presidency, Australia will lead the negotiations, and the pre-COP will be hosted in the Pacific. This unique partnership offers an unprecedented opportunity to bridge diverse regional perspectives as the international community works to advance climate commitments and shape the path beyond existing frameworks.
In the lead-up to these important climate negotiations, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), in partnership with SDSN Türkiye, and SDSN Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, is hosting a four-part webinar series, “From Science to Solutions: Mobilizing Knowledge, Partnerships and Action Ahead of COP31.”
The second session explored the scientific, policy, and infrastructure challenges of rapidly scaling global electrification and renewable energy deployment to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and meet climate targets through effective international cooperation.
