This is the sixth in a series of videos by Robert M. Ellis talking through the sections of his book 'Absolutization'. Section 6, 'The Unity of Absolutizing Phenomena' addresses the question of how to understand the relationship between different features of absolutization identified in different disciplines (Buddhism, systems, embodiment, philosophy and psychology). Robert argues that we should not try to see the different features (e.g. proliferation, metaphysics, and fragility) as a priori equivalent, but that they emerge in different conditions. Seeing them as unified is also justified by a synthetic argument (which is more justified the more approaches we can combine) and by the practical helpfulness of seeing them in relation to each other for our response to these phenomena.
