Abraham, trail boss for Pachamama Explorers of Cusco, Peru, must surely be one of the best. Weekly he leads groups of novices and experts alike as they make treks of varying lengths toward the final ascent of Machu Picchu, the Inca stronghold some 80 miles northwest of Cusco.
The goal of Pachumama Explorers is to make the trek a success for every member of the team, no matter what their background. During the especially difficult trek around the south side of Mt. Salkantay, one of Peru's tallest peaks, trail boss Abraham went to great lengths to make the trek a success for my nine year old grandson, Paul and for the other nine members of Team Pachamama. He was successful.
Abraham's ten years of guiding treks over every conceivable route to Machu Picchu was a prime reason that Paul - and his father and grandfather - came away with a highly positive experience.
