Formed in Stockholm in 1972, superpop group ABBA, consisting of Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, topped charts from 1974 to 1982 when they disbanded, having sold over 500 million copies worldwide. Their music in the 1999 theatrical production and subsequent film “Mamma Mia!!” became massive hits, the latter being the highest grossing film in the UK in 2008. Their fist hit “Waterloo” won the European Song Contest in 1974 and, at the 50th Anniversary of the Contest in 2005, it was declared Best Song in the Competition’s history. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. In 2015 “Dancing Queen,” a #1 song world-wide, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Here, on THE RAES 1979 CBC Vancouver TV series, ABBA performed their new single “Does Your Mother Know,” the second release from the 1979 LP Voulez-Vous, with lead vocals by Bjorn, not the female vocalists. ABBA announced two new recorded songs will be released in December 2018, one of them being “I Still Have Faith in You.”
