ABANDONED WW2 AIR FORCE BASE WITH BARRACKS - FOUND KIDS DIARY

This week we visited an abandoned CALIFORNIA Air force base with a day care officers quarters, school and child day care center. This Air force base was in service in the 40's to and abandoned sometime in the 1950's.

In World War II Army Air Field was a Sub Base of March Field. It had three runways, the longest being 7,000 feet. There was housing for 930 Officers and 3,900 Enlisted Men.

The site had over 650 buildings and other types of military facilities and improvements were constructed at this airfield, including hangars, office buildings, barracks, warehouses, runways and taxiways, water and sewer systems, a hospital, and fuel and ordnance storage. The base was advertised as the "World's Healthiest Air Base".
