Abandoned.Sometimes an explore just doesn't quite feel right and this one felt like the house was going to cave in on me as soon as I entered the living area. I'd never felt like that before but the house was actually moving the more I got into it and by the time I got to the bathroom I was getting concerned about walking too much because the more I moved the more the house moved with me. There was a lot of slippage and I'm thinking the stumps under the house had been eaten away by termites. I would have liked to stay a little longer exploring but instincts were telling me to get out or just don't move which is a pointless exercise when exploring. There was an abandoned railway station behind the what I now believe to be the post office . The Main Northern Railway line opened on 1 September 1886 and the station on 20 February 1975. The Post Office opened on 20 June 1887. Remains of the Sandy Flat community comprises the remains of the former rail siding, a disused post office building and a modern New South Wales Rural Fire Service shed together with an information stand.
