Thank you for joining me on this explore and I hope you enjoy coming with me while we look at another piece of Australian history that is about to disappear.
I'd arrived at this one (very graciously shared with me by a very nice couple I was pleased to have met on this trip) I was told by a farm worker that I could take pics but not to go inside because of the state of the floors.
I was ok with that so I set about taking photos and the owner of the property arrived and we got talking.
He was very nice about sharing info on the house and even said I could go inside to look around if I wanted too. (SCORE)
He told me the house was built in 1905 and started it's decline in the 50's with issues with the stumps the house was sitting on starting to either rot away or termites eating them away. It was in the late 60's that the property became uninhabitable and at that point a military man was residing in the house before he had to leave.
The owner also said that he was building a straw bale house (nice) in town and was going to salvage as much of the old place as he could, even the bricks from the chimneys.
This is great news to me as so many old homes just get bulldozed into the ground without salvaging anything.
As you can see from the size of the house that is was once a very substantial house with so many rooms even though I found it odd how small the bathroom was. Lots to see and so much history left behind as well.
I hope I wasn't to all over the place with filming as it wasn't easy at all trying to film and watching that I didn't go through the floor at the same time.
