Blackpool is a seaside town in Lancashire the northwest of England and also my hometown.
Famous for its Five hundred eighteen feet Beach front tower, its yearly Blackpool Illuminations, the Number one free light show in the world and the pleasure beach resort theme park, but did you know there was also another theme park planned for this resort?
At the entrance to Blackpool Zoo, there is a Zoo History timeline display.
Listed under the year of 1969 reads, other suggestions for the site (this refers to where Blackpool Zoo is now located) include a horseracing track, a speedway, a formula 1 circuit and even a Disney World!
The latter suggestion comes the closest to be developed but it is stopped at the last minute due to pressure from other attractions in the town.
