. My take on an alternative form of eyewear for viewing the upcoming solar eclipse over those 3D-like eclipse glasses sellers are pushing. Demo picture in LINKS.
These are a pair of welding goggles from Harbor Freight and they retail for $5.29 according to their store website. With a easily obtainable 20% off coupon the price drops by a dollar (and taxes apply depending on state). The lenses on these are very dark (a common complaint on them funny as it is). However they may be useful for viewing very bright light (like the sun or high candlepower lighting). You get two goggles: One has flip up lenses, another has fixed lenses. Also you can stack one over the other if you need additional filtering. Disclaimer: If you're unsure about using alternatives like these or others (like a pinhole projector), use NASA-certified glasses for viewing the eclipse.
