. As multimedia computing grew in the early 90s thanks to improving hardware including sound cards, Microsoft released a set of three sound theme/expansion sets for Windows 3.1 that added a multitude of sound effects for the operating system. These included a set featuring Hanna-Barbera cartoons, movie sounds and quotes and last a set of musical sound effects (some of which got used in the Musica theme in Windows 9x).
